Welcome to Red Wattle Pigs Plus – A Preservation-Focused Red Wattle Pig Registry dedicated to documenting and maintaining a database of quality, authenticated Red Wattle pigs. Our mission is simple: promote the breed, increase their numbers, and preserve this rare heritage hog for future generations.
This is all about the pigs—Red Wattle pigs.
While we function as a registry, we are not a club or an association. There are no dues, no memberships, no politics, and absolutely no gatekeeping.
We simply love the wonderful, native-Texan Red Wattle hog and want to help preserve them in all their delicious, snoot-boop’n, red-wattled glory.
About Red Wattle Pigs
Red Wattle pigs are a rare American heritage hog known for their richly flavored meat, deep red coats, gentle personalities, and distinctive wattles. They thrive on pasture, and carry a history worth preserving. Their unique genetics, calm temperament, and resilient nature are exactly why we adore them and why this breed deserves dedicated stewardship.
Why We Maintain a Red Wattle Registry
Our purpose is straightforward: document quality Red Wattle hogs, track their pedigrees, and help keep the breed healthy and genetically diverse.
Red Wattle Pigs Plus exists to:
- support breeders
- encourage transparency
- promote responsible, ethical selection
- maintain accurate, accessible records
All without dues, drama, or nonsense. Just honest preservation for a remarkable heritage hog.
Texas Roots, Heritage Purpose
The Red Wattle hog has deep roots in Texas, developing as a hardy, self-sufficient, pasture-based hog perfectly adapted to the region. By maintaining clear documentation, supporting ethical breeding, and celebrating these red-wattled wonders, we hope to see this native Texan hog continue rooting, grazing, and snoot-boop’n for generations.
Preservation is our mission—plain and simple.
We have no fees, no dues, and no bullshit.
This is a labor of love—labor-intensive and expensive.
This is me putting my money where my mouth is.
Donations are welcome, never required.
We do have rules.
We welcome:
- Registered Red Wattle pigs
- Red Wattles descended from known registered stock
- And Red Wattle-type hogs that meet our standards, regardless of previous documentation
If the pig is a true Red Wattle hog and meets the breed’s historical traits, we want to record it. What we offer is a place to register your pigs, document their heritage, their history, and their quality.
How Registration Works:
- Complete the registration forms on this site.
- You may choose to make a donation—appreciated but not required.
- Your information will be verified by the registrar.
- The registrar submits a decision to the RWPP business committee for consensus or discussion.
- We will contact you with any questions.
- Once accepted, we email a PDF RWPP registration certificate to the owner’s email on file.
Our Commitment: Breeders Helping Breeders
We support all organizations that uplift the Red Wattle breed.
RWPP strives to document hogs accurately, fill gaps when possible, and recover lost hog lines and their breeders. Our goal is simple:
To ensure the amazing Red Wattle hog not only continues, but thrives and grows in numbers.
